Saint Pierre de Colombier: new illegal action against the construction site
On Monday October 9, earthworks began on the Our Lady of the Snow site in Saint Pierre de Colombier, in strict compliance with town-planning and environmental laws, and with all the required authorizations, as confirmed by the Prefect of the Ardèche in a press release.
On Thursday October 12, a dozen or so opponents illegally entered this private worksite, violating private property and using force and violence to prevent the works from continuing. Two people chained themselves to an excavator. Several others remained on the site with impunity throughout the day.
Several complaints have been filed against these activists, who use methods which are totally in opposition with the laws of the Republic.
The Missionary Family of Our Lady wishes to make known its total determination to continue the works legally, and to assert its rights to do so. We would like to thank the police force who has kept the peace, as well as the workmen, elected representatives and inhabitants of the valley, many of whom have lent us their support.
